Throttling appears in several contexts:
- After a data cap is hit: Many plans reduce speeds — commonly to 128 Kbps or 1 Mbps — once you exhaust a monthly data allowance.
- For specific content types: Some plans throttle video streaming to a fixed resolution (e.g., 480p) regardless of your remaining data.
- On lower-tier plans by design: Entry-level plans sometimes cap maximum speeds (e.g., 5 Mbps) as a product differentiation feature, not a penalty.
